About Lottie
Hi,
Welcome to Lottie Loves.
Lottie Loves is my passion, this little piece of Blog Land has my heart poured into it and I hope you enjoy and visit often. Lottie Loves is not my first foray into blogland. I blogged for three years about my Ulcerative Colitis, a disease of the bowel that left me ill and unable to live life as I would have liked for many years. Now, having had life changing surgery (my bowel removed) and recovered completely, I am embarking on a new phase of my life, one that is healthy and able to indulge in all of my passions – of which you will soon discover I have many!
I drive my husband, referred to hear as The Magician, mad waffling on about everything I get up to and everything I want to get up to so I decided I needed an outlet and that the most sensible thing is to blog again, this time about everything I love hence the title Lottie Loves…
I am a modern, fairly liberal women but I choose to live quite a traditional, domestic and homely life with my husband and two children. I am a wife and mother of two boys aged 7 and 5 and proud to be so. I am completely committed to these roles, probably even more so having had these roles diminished for many years due to illness. I am determined to do it properly and successfully . This doesn’t mean giving everything I have to these three people in my life and living a life of drudgery, it means embracing what these roles mean whilst still retaining me – after all my husband fell in love with me as ME, not as his wife or mother of his children.
I LOVE lots of things and am passionate about pretty much everything I do. My life is massively inspired by the women from the 1940′s and 1950′s, the way they lived their lives, the hobbies they had and the morals and attitude towards life and living. Oh, and of course the clothes…..oh the clothes.
I love taking care of my family and anything domestically creative. I knit, cross stitch, sew, craft, make my own gifts, bake, keep house and garden. I recycle and reuse almost addictively and love sharing all of my discoveries and experiences with friends. I adore clothes, especially anything vintage from the 1940s, 50s and 60s, and love playing around with make up, hair, nail varnish and anything that helps me feel feminine and fabulous. I am obsessed with the colour red!
I huge fan of Burlesque and Pin Up of which you’ll hear much about on here, although I don’t do any Burlesque or Pin Up myself – yet
I feel passionately that many women are being underrated and undervalued because we choose to be domestic. Whether a women that works and then comes home to bake, craft or cook or a women who is at home for one of a myriad of reasons and enjoys cooking, baking, crafting and keeping house, our domestic abilities and desires to homemake are often belittled and ridiculed. Yes, we can have careers and work on equal footings with men but lets not forget that we are damned good,in fact, bloody brilliant, at keeping a home and taking care of our families.
In October 2010 my family and I moved from Cambridgeshire in the UK To North California, USA to start a new chapter of life’s adventure. It’s been an interesting time so far and it is bound to change the way I blog and what I blog about as I discover new loves (and the odd hate!).
I write about lots of things. All the things I love doing and the things I get up to with my family and friends and hopefully offer some inspiration to others on how to embrace being a Wife and Mum but still a little bit glamorous and fun. I particularly talk a lot about dresses as I firmly believe women should wear them as much as possible!
Hope you enjoy – I know I will.
