Screen Siren – Grace Kelly
September 14, 2011 | Category: Hollywood, Screen Sirens, Vintage
Today, September 14th, marks the anniversary of the death of Her Serene Highness, The Princess of Monaco, formally the beautiful and charming Hollywood screen siren, Grace Kelly. She died in 1982 aged merely 52 after crashing her car following a stroke. She left behind her husband Rainier III Prince of Monaco and her three children, including her youngest daughter Princess Stephanie who fortunately survived the accident.
Grace Kelly had been an actress and movie star from the age of 20 and was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Mogambo and later nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in The Country Girl.
At the age of 26 Grace Kelly retired from acting to marry Rainer III, Prince of Monaco. They married in a civil ceremony on April 18th 1956 and in a religious ceremony the following day. They were married for 25 years in 1981.
I was only 5 when she died but I imagine it was a great loss for Monaco who lost their beautiful and much loved Princess and to the world who never forgot that she was part of Hollywood’s Golden Age.
May she forever rest in peace.
I love this photograph. Her oufit is lovely. The highwaisted trousers, pussybow blouse, cardigan and best of all the chiffon hairscarf which looks so pretty.
Looking beautiful with her trademark handbag, the Hermes Kelly bag, and look at those sunglasses.

I love this photograph. It looks like it could have been taken just last week
